Healthy living is having the opportunity,
capability and motivation to act in a way that positively affects your physical
and mental well-being. Paying attention to what you eat, being physically
active, and learning more about your food and yourself can help you meet your
health goals. A healthy lifestyle is one which helps to keep and improve
people's health and well-being. A person who has good physical health is likely
to have bodily functions and processes working at their peak. Regular exercise,
balanced nutrition, and adequate rest all contribute to good health.
1) EATS FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
• Eat a combination of different foods, including fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts and whole grains.
• Adults should eat at least five portions (400g) of fruit and vegetables per day.
• You can improve your intake of fruits and vegetables by always including veggies in your meal.
• Eating fresh fruit and vegetables as snacks. o Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, and eating them in season.
• Healthy eating, will reduce your risk of malnutrition and no communicable diseases (such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer).
2) DO EXERCISE REGULARLY
• Exercise is helpful for weight loss and maintaining weight loss. o Exercise can increase metabolism, by how many calories you can burn in a day.
• It can also help you maintain and increase lean body mass, which also helps increase number of calories you burn each day.
• Combination of exercise with a healthy diet is a more effective way to lose weight than depending on calorie restriction alone.
• Exercise can prevent or even reverse the effects of certain diseases.
• One method that can help a person lose to weight is to limit the number of calories taken through their diet.
• The other way is to burn extra calories with exercise.
3) AVOID SMOKING
• Deciding to stop smoking is an important but difficult choice.
• It’s important that you choose the approach that will work best for you. o Reduce how many cigarettes you smoke gradually over time. o Set goals to try and get rid of some of the cigarettes that are more difficult to give up.
• Tobacco kills not only the direct smokers but even non-smokers through second hand exposure.
• Smoking can cause health damage as like lung cancer by damaging your airways.
4) SAY NO TO JUNK FOOD
• The word ‘junk’ refers to something that is extra and useless.
• The consequences of eating junk food to your health are terrible, irrespective of you are have them once in a while, twice in a week or every day.
• Although junk food and fast food makes you feel full and satisfied, those kind of foods are lack of all the necessary nutrients like proteins and carbohydrates to keep your body energized and healthy.
• Satisfying yourself with junk food every time you’re hungry, may lead to chronically fatigued.
• It can lower your energy levels to an extent that it may become difficult for you to even perform your daily tasks.
• Junks food may lead to depression in teenager’s Junk food is high in refined sugar which puts your metabolism under stress.
5) TIGHT SLEEP
• Sleep can regulates the release of hormones that control your appetite, metabolism, growth, and healing.
• It will also help your weight management. o Tight sleeps maintains your immune system.
• It may lower your risk of depression o Good quality of sleep improves athletic performance, reaction time, and speed. o Try to wake up at the same time each day.
• Avoid long naps, especially late in the afternoon.
